Today I met this guy, kind of. It’s not like we sat down and introduced ourselves, but he walked by my friends and I while we were standing around taking pictures of ourselves while it was drizzling and he passed by us and he looked really cool and the most outgoing of my friends took a picture of him. Then I called out to him if he wanted to see the picture my friend had taken of him, because he clearly saw us and just didn’t give a fuck and he came over to us and looked at the pictures and told us it was cool and walked away.

You see, I thought he was just going to go away and be cool about it, but he came back like fifteen minutes later and proceeded to give me to worst impression I’ve ever had of a person.

I’m pretty sure any of my friends who were there with me didn’t see it like this, but this dude was such a douchebag. He came back to ask my friend for a way to get the picture sent to him, because it was a pretty decent photo and he kept mentioning to his friend how “too cool for school” he looked in the photo, which inherently, made him seem so lame. And he asked us if we went to my high school, which was really fucking obvious because we were standing right outside of it and then proceeded to make sly digs at how young we are compared to him (I’m guessing he was like 23ish) and how innocent we were.

Like his friend who was with him asked for a picture too (lol what were we, the damn paparazzi) and my friend took one photo of him but then after was like “Oh shit, I didn’t get a picture with my awesome shirt!” and then opened up his jacket and showed off a shirt that had a bear on it and said in a big font underneath it said ‘BEER’ and my friend was like “Wow, that’s such a cool shirt!!!” and the guy was like “Oh yeah, haha, surprised you guys actually get that joke haha, cause like, you’re in high school haahha” as though being in high school makes it so that you’re not smart enough to get like the worst grade school pun I’ve ever seen.

And then I pointed out how lame it was that my friend was laughing at the pun, like jokingly, and the guy and his friend looked at me with a straight WTF face, like it was quite amazing that I actually got the joke and I could point out what kind of joke it was.

Goodness, I don’t know. I really didn’t like how he pointed out like more than five times in the like, 10 minutes of interaction that we had with the dude that we are younger than him thus automatically not knowing anything, insinuating that out of the group of us, we should look up to him in a way because he’s older and “cooler” than us. I just hate when people develop weird stereotypes of the lack of intelligence and innocence the average teenager possesses.

We do have the internet. And you really have to be really dumb to believe that talking to teenagers that way like you’re so much cooler than them will actually make you cooler somehow.

Moral of the story: When you talk to people, anywhere at anytime, if you want them to like you a little more, try to not talk like you’re better than them.

I've been looking at your blog a lot lately, and I just wanted to let you know how much I like it. The photos you reblog are beautiful and I love reading your own texts. PS some of your favorite songs are mine too :)

“There’s this idea that Emma, Rupert and myself are the best of friends who always hang out together. I’m just going to put out there, Emma and I text all the time but Rupert and I never text each other, we never see each other. If I see him every six months or so, it’s a friendly ‘hello, how’s things with you’ but that’s about it.”
